Emotion dynamics of a society of embodied agents

Abstract : Recently, researchers have shown an increased interest in the emotion contagion phenomenon in order to model emerging group behaviour. In this article, we propose the MA/SDEC (Mixed Agent/Social Dynamics for Emotion Computation) architecture in order to manage the set of emotional dynamics : punctual events, temporal dynamics and external influences. In an embodied agent approach, the first is the responsibility of the agent’s mind, the second of the agent’s body, and the third of the environment. We show how contagion can be calculated when social relations between agents are unknown. Several experiments allow us to validate the model, analyze its properties, calibrate its parameters and evaluate its performance.
