Catalonia publishes interdisciplinary articles and works on the language, literature, arts and history of the Catalan area. Catalonia aims to promote study and critical reflection in the different scientific fields and subfields of which it is composed, with an open perspective on interdisciplinary research. The journal covers all the historical periods targeted by Catalan studies, from the Middle Ages to the present day, with particular attention to the latter period, which is the subject of most of the monographs. The geographical areas of study are the Catalan-speaking areas: Catalonia, the Valencian Country and the Balearic Islands in Spain, and Northern Catalonia and the Occitania region in France.
