Quête et intertextualité : Une étude thématique de l’œuvre en prose de Göran Tunström (sous la direction de Marc Auchet)

Abstract : The swedish twentieth century author Göran Tunström was born in the county of Värmland, his real-fictional universe. The alterning of narrative voices defines his work as polyphonic. The main narrator follows a vertical motion towards a symbolic death which might lead to a rebirth. The circular motion has an important part in his quest for the past. A global approach of the production makes it possible to see that the quest constitutes a central theme. One can distinguish four aspects thereof: finding a language capable of uniting the sources of the thought; achieve individual liberty in order to obtain an identity; seek the Other, which will reveal what true life is; establish fellowship, as man creates himself in intersubjectivity. The author puts himself in relationship with other literary, mythical or religious works. Thanks to this intertextuality, among other things, his work resounds in an infinite space and time. Finally, the study places the author in the postmodern context.
