Genre grammatical, genre sexuel et genre de discours : à propos du .e

Abstract : Thanks to the notion of discourse genre, this paper aims to account for the use of .e in French. By looking at the non-linear characteristics and at the pronunciation of this specific spelling, referred to as “inclusive”, we address the issue of the representation of the feminine this spelling conveys. What does the spelling "cher.e.s collègues" mean, for example in academic emails?
The theoretical framework known as Grammaire Seconde (Blanche-Benveniste) is discussed and replaced by a dynamic system designed to test the logics behind the fact of taking the feminine away from the masculine. In other words, we try to understand the way in which grammatical and/or discursive genericity is motived.
