Les apports de l’interface tactile numérique dans l’expression créative graphique : une étude exploratoire chez des enfants d’âge scolaire

Abstract : The aim of this study was to evaluate whether digital touchscreen devices could promote children’s graphical creativity. A drawing task based on the seminal work of Karmiloff-Smith’s paradigm (1990), was proposed to 21 first grade children and 14 third grade children. Children had to draw a “man that exists” (non-creative drawing) and “a man that does not exist” (creative drawing). These drawings were realized with finger on a digital touchscreen and with a pen on paper sheet. Comparisons between creative drawings and non-creative drawings reveal that, although third grade children produce more creative drawings than first grade children, all children produced more creative drawings when they draw on a digital touchscreen support than when they draw on paper sheet support. This result is discussed according to theories of embodied and situated cognition.
