Reconstruction 3D d'un insecte piégé dans l'ambre

Abstract : In this article, we focus on the 3D-reconstruction of an opaque object immersed in a refractive medium. More precisely , the case we are interested in is that of an insect trapped in amber. This material, although transparent, is coloured and refractive, which causes distortions in the images. The camera pose estimation by structure-from-motion has been studied in detail in this case, but the same cannot be said for 3D-reconstruction by multi-view stereo. This feasibility study is validated by tests on synthetic images, then on real images of an insect cast in the resin. The quality of these first results is very encouraging.
