Prétraitement de sédiments de dragage par une méthode électrocinétique

Abstract : Electrokinetic dewatering of dredged sediments, although it appears as an interesting solution according to several studies, remains very little used in practice. It involves applying a weak electric field through the sediment, which induces a phenomenon of electro-osmosis. The work presented here concerns tests performed at laboratory scale, on sediments from the deposit chamber of the Great Harbor of Le Havre, located in Tancarville. We evaluated the performance of dehydration under different conditions, caused by the combined effect of gravity and an electric field compared to that obtained under the gravity alone. The results showed that dehydration and consolidation of the material were significantly accelerated under the influence of an electric field. This study highlighted the importance of the electrical potential and a progression of a basic front in the treated sediment during the tests.
