Apprentissage d'une langue étrangère par les élèves sourds : regard quantitatif sur la situation actuelle

Abstract : This paper deals with learning a third language – besides French and French Sign Language (LSF) as far as deaf students are concerned. In France deaf students, just like hearing counterparts, are required to attend foreign language classes – usually English – when they enter secondary school. In order to analyse how French deaf students are taught and learn a foreign language at school, quantitative data were collected. The findings presented in this paper include information on the number of students concerned, foreign languages offered, class schedules and necessary adapted teaching methods.
