Liberté et propriété. Sur l’économie politique et le républicanisme de Condorcet

Abstract : Condorcet is generally considered one of the emblematic representatives of the Rights of Man. Yet in his concept of the relationship between liberty and property, he is essentially trying to escape from the constraints of modern natural law and liberty conceived as non-domination. He can best be understood as a theoretician of rational choice and of the liberty of non-interference. His brand of republicanism regards less the citizenthan man in his economic dimension, thus bringing him closer to the thought of Jean-Baptiste Say than to that of Thomas Paine.
