Gouvernance actuarielle et question sociale : entre psychiatrique et judiciaire

Abstract : This article questions Robert Castel's legacy in the social control field anf his use of the concept of risk. Against all odds, his posterity in this given field stems mostly from its inclusion in a governmental perspective by Anglo-Saxon academics, without him ever claiming it. Marks of his theorisation of the mutation from dangerousness to risk can be found in Nikolas Rose's work and also in Feeley and Simon's « actuarial Justice ». Beyond the precision and the premonitory dimension of his observations on risk, a combination with the « social question » perspective may be heuristic.
