Les Jacobins de Honfleur et la mer (1791-1795)

Abstract : Based on the minutes of the local Jacobin club, the Société des amis de la Constitution de Honfleur, this articles analyses the relations between politics and seafarers. Many captains, officers and merchants as well as other artisans in affiliated trades were members of the club. Fisheries and trade were an obsessional interest for theses Jacobins, notably after 1793, when war with Great Britain complicated everything.
