Partie du discours de Joseph Brodsky : une expérience de lecture

Abstract : The poetry collection A Part of Speech by Joseph Brodsky was published in the United States in 1977. It is the height of his first life as a young poet. After a trial for social parasitism and a sentence to hard labor in 1964, he was finally expelled from the Soviet Union in 1972. Then he started a new poetic life becoming an American citizen. Delivered from a heavy political environment, he can follow the path of Pouchkine lyrical tradition and find a new link with the ruined culture of the poets of the Silver Age. His poems illustrate the principle of “lyrical exteriority”, establishing a link between emotional intensity and metaphysical detachment.
