La toquade de Célestin Cuccoli

Abstract : The inventor of the character Perelà (Perelà's Code, 1911) Aldo Palazzaeschi is the obvious reference whenever there is question of proceeding to profile theeccentric. More precisely, Célestin Cuccoli, the protagonist of The Cuccoli Brothers (1948), would be, according to our point of view, the palazzechian character legitimately able to fit the eccentric category, in more than one sense: as the author's double and as Perelà's vaporous emanation. We will propose to try to identify the eccentric by investigating this capricious character in his choices, especially the most crucial ones, for example those concerning fatherhood: a person with such little consistency flirting with indecency, madness, and death.
