The Telepresence Robot in Universities: Between Subjectification and Unlinking

Résumé

The advent of telepresence robots in educational situations probably leads students who benefit from it, as well as their teachers, peers, friends and family, etc. to subscribe to psychological experiences of the same type. This chapter analyzes the psychological reality, in the Freudian sense, experienced by students who benefit from the telepresence system to overcome their inability to get to class, which may be temporary but lasting for several weeks. It discusses two details: one concerning the telepresence system, and the other about the scientific approach used. The chapter presents a brief review of the scientific literature concerning the approach to psychoanalytical orientation towards robots in our societies. It also presents a relatively traditional methodology, followed by the results concerning subjectification that is related to unlinking.
