Si-C bonds formation for the synthesis of silylated heterocycles: Methodologies and applications

Abstract : Developing access to new heterocycles is a constant challenge in synthetic chemistry. Carbon and silicon atoms have structural similarities (valence, geometry), which are at the origin of an isostery between them. Consequently, the synthesis of new silylated heterocycles by inter- or intramolecular reactions has recently emerged as a strong challenge for organic chemists. In this article, the different methods developed to access these structures are reported. In addition, the synthetic interest will be proved with some applications in the field of fragrances, pharmacy or materials.
