Lieux de l’apostrophe muette : le dépaysement poétique chez André du Bouchet

Abstract : Although the notion of disorientation in 20th poetry seems to lead directly our attention to avant-garde aesthetics, the paper aims to show that the poetic creations based on the return to the concrete reality of a landscape, in the second part of the 20th, have a paradoxical and a radical power of disorientation. The study of the “espaces nus” of André du Bouchet, of its writing about the connection between Cézanne and the Sainte-Victoire Mountain, and the works of Jean-Christophe Bailly are the bases of this paper. It enhances the notions of “invisible upsurges”, the tension between immediate presence and “mass of oblivion” and the possibility of what could be, all notions applied to those unoccupied landscapes. It analyses the way “silent injunction” (in the words of Jacques Dupin) or “mute apostrophe” (Jean-Christophe Bailly) of those bare landscapes are rendered. The whitening of the paper sheets is specially focused. Disturbing the linear reading and the connections between linguistic or non-linguistic sign, those whit blanks reveal a lost dimension of the landscape.
