The fictional world of Sylvie Germain is haunted by what went before, at both the textual and ontological levels: a secret life of primal elements, which manifests itself through the recurring theme of inscriptions. This study therefore chooses to look at the topos of Liber mundi, reused in Sylvie Germain 's uni erse within the context of modernity. In pieces and illegible in parts, this Liber mundi gives the writer the opportunity to carry out a radical exploration: i.e. of the unknown that is dea h - her aim in one of her latest texts, Le Monde sans vous. "Siberian Variations" (in Le Monde sans vous) which becomes the space in which language is redefined, a language, which, beyond the curse of Babel, re-establishes a link with the primal elements.

Le monde romanesque de Sylvie Germain est hanté par ce qui le précède, au plan textuel comme ontologique: une vie secrète des éléments premiers, qui se manifeste à travers le motif récurrent des inscriptions. Cette étude choisit alors de s'intéresser au topos du Liber mundi, que l'univers de Sylvie Germain retravaille dans le contexte de la modernité. En lambeaux et en partie illisible, ce Liber mundi se fait l'occasion, pour l'écrivain, d'une exploration radicale: celle de l'inconnu de la mort, vers lequel elle s'engage dans l'un de ses derniers textes, Le Monde sans vous."Variations sibériennes" (in Le Monde sans vous) devient en cela l'espace où se redéfinit la langue, une langue qui, par-delà la malédiction de Babel, renoue une alliance avec les éléments premiers.
