Du merveilleux spirituel dans l’œuvre de Sylvie Germain

Abstract : As an anachronistic storyteller of fables, which cut across the codes and principles of realism, Sylvie Germain belongs to the Barbey or Bernanos tradition. Her work confirms Malraux's prophecy of a "spiritual" twenty-first century. Her novels welcome the power of mystery and the torment of faith. They question the inexplicable link between the visible and the invisible, the huge and the tiny, the carnal and the spiritual, the sublimis and the humilis. Her flights of imagination cannot here be reduced to playful fantasies, they illustrate the speculative power of fiction.
