With a measured but incisive poetic style, Por si se va la luz, Lara Moreno’s first novel, provides an outlook of a form of living (or survival) in the fringe of societyby recounting the progressive adaptation of an urban couple to a tough universe in either a material, climatic or human perspective. The work, which accounts only for a few number of events, is mainly focused on the relationship between the characters and nature, between the characters themselves and between the characters and others, as well as on their behavior, their feelings and their thoughts, whose depth and complexity are emphasized through the very particular enunciative strategy of the novel. This paper mainly explores the various dimensions of living in the fringe depicted in the novel, as well as its perspective on the modern society and the forms of anxiety that are showed.
Premier roman de Lara Moreno, Por si se va la luz donne à voir une forme de vie–ou de survie –à la marge du monde en retraçant, dans une prose poétique à la fois mesurée et incisive, la progressive adaptation d’un jeune couple de citadins à un univers rude tant du point de vue matériel que climatique ou encore humain. Ponctué de quelques événements qui tissent à peine une histoire, l’œuvre est bien plutôt centrée sur le rapport des personnages à la nature tout comme à eux-mêmes et aux autres, sur leurs agissements ainsi que sur leurs sentiments et leurs pensées dont la profondeur et la complexité ne sont rendues que plus perceptibles par l’originale stratégie énonciative retenue. L’article explore, en particulier, les différentes dimensions que la marginalité revêt dans le récit tout en considérant le regard porté sur la société moderne et les formes d’inquiétude qui transparaissent.
