Schizes of an Anthropological Mediation between State and Travelers
LES SCHIZES D'UNE MÉDIATION ANTHROPOLOGIQUE ENTRE L'ÉTAT ET « LES GENS DU VOYAGE »
Abstract
After a training in anthropology devoted to France centered on « gens du voyage » (nomadic people), Gaëlla Loiseau professionalized her knowledge as a mediator for the state authorities, at first in an non profit organization and then as freelancer. She answers to Monique Selim’ questions who asks about internal contradictions of her status. How does she deal with the thorny circumstances marked by a social exclusion and repression of the category of foreigner recently enacted « inassimilable ». The rules and/or ethical charters, far from pacifying the antagonisms, have proven to be fragile masks to irrefutable political scheduling.
Après une formation en anthropologie consacrée aux « gens du voyage », Gaëlla Loiseau a professionnalisé ses connaissances comme médiatrice des autorités étatiques, d’abord dans une association puis comme entrepreneuse. Elle répond ici aux questions de Monique Selim qui l’interroge sur les contradictions internes à sa position et sur les formes de dépassement qu’elle entrevoit dans des circonstances épineuses marquées par l’exclusion et le refoulement dans une catégorie d’étranger récemment décrété « inassimilable ». Les règles et/ou chartes éthiques, loin de pouvoir pacifier les antagonismes, se révèleraient des masques fragiles à des ordonnancements politiques irréfragables.
