Reconnaissance of underground cavities by means of electrical tomography and geological radar in the béni-mellal city center (morocco)

Abstract : The city of Béni-Mellal was built on soils containing a sizable network of grottoes and underground cavities that have given rise to many ground collapses in recent times. In order to test the efficiency of geophysical methods for localizing and mapping these cavities, the techniques of electrical panels (or tomographies) and geological radar have been implemented on a parcel in the city's old Medina. The results obtained clearly show the presence of underground cavities in the subsoil, with the largest of these pockets extending approximately fifty square meters.
