Perennial fashion - jazz, by Theodor Adorno and popular music as a subject for philosophy

Abstract : The article aims to discuss Adorno's criticism of jazz on his essay Perennial Fashion in the context of Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe's essay Remarque sur Adorno et le jazz. The author's contradictions, as well as some new readings of his thoughts, will be considered. The future constitution of jazz as a musical field in its own right, separated to the field of classical music, will guide us through this analysis.
