Modélisation spatio-temporelle et approche économique du piégeage de sédiments dans des ravines marneuses végétalisées par génie biologique :le modèle Simulfascine

Abstract : Erosion and sedimentation control in eroded gullies on marlstone beds (small catchments of less than one hectare in surface area) can be achieved through bioengineering, i.e. by a set of techniques and tools that use plants to contain erosive phenomena. One challenging phase in erosion control is determining the various strategies for applying these techniques and assessing their respective costs and benefits. An interactive tool designed for field personnel, managers and policy-makers has been developed for that purpose. Simulfascine performs virtual tests for interventions so as to identify the least costly solution for effective, lasting sediment entrapment using a spatio-temporal model and a cost-benefit analysis of sediment entrapment on gullies in marlstone beds by means of biologically engineered revegetation.
